I developed this card from the one that I made of the wild swimmer. I liked the seagull on the post he has a cheeky look! So I wanted him to feature more prominently in another card.

When I’m designing a card I like to start with a basic idea or character and then develop from there. The hessian covering for the post and the wool give a lovely seaweed effect.

Once I had the colours for the background I started to make the crab. The crumpled mulberry paper gives some definition to the shell.
